Our graduates go on to pursue careers as engineers, scientists, inventors, astronauts, administrators, and leaders in the field of aerospace engineering. As a graduate student in the Aerospace Engineering program, you become part of a longstanding tradition of excellence and success. Whether your focus is local or global, your graduate education generates opportunities for truly making a difference across every spectrum of society. The first aeronautical courses were offered In 1926, under the direction of the Mechanical Engineering department. In 1939, an expanded graduate program in aeronautical engineering was initiated. By 1942 the Department of Aeronautical Engineering was formed, with the first doctoral degree awarded in 1948. Since then, more than 900 masters and 350 doctorate degrees in aeronautical/aerospace engineering have been awarded.
