Attention to Asia in the form of courses, faculty, research, libraries, art exhibitions, language learning, resources, student organizations, and exchange programs extends throughout this pluralistic structure, but is coordinated and supported by these centers of excellence.
The Asia Programs are recipients of U.S. Department of Education Title VI funding and are thus recognized as National Resource Centers. Each sponsor numerous lectures and events on Asia, administer outreach programs, and contribute widely to academic work through their own publication series. Asian languages currently taught at Cornell are Bengali, Burmese, Chinese (Cantonese and Mandarin) , Hindi-Urdu, Indonesian, Japanese, Khmer (Cambodian) , Korean, Nepali, Sanskrit, Sinhalese, Tagalog, Thai, and Vietnamese.
