Course Overview

Other medical professionals in the Chicago area may be eligible to enroll. All program participants are expected to be actively engaged in research with a mentor, preferably one at Northwestern University, who should have national funding, NIH, AHA, etc. MSCI courses are open to graduate students in other life sciences' programs at NU to explore the application of basic science concepts to medicine. Students can enter the program at the beginning of any of the four quarters. Applicants should prepare a brief research plan reviewed by their mentor(s). The degree is typically obtained in two to three years. The objective of the Clinical Investigation program is to produce clinical researchers who are skilled in clinical research techniques, competitive in seeking research support and knowledgeable about the complex issues associated with conducting sound clinical research, particularly in translational and clinical epidemiologic patient-oriented research.
