Course Overview

The Curriculum Studies and Teacher Development (CSTD) Program is offered by the Department of Curriculum, Teaching and Learning at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE) , leading to the Master of Education, Master of Arts, and Doctor of Philosophy degrees. This program is a forum for systematic reflection on curriculum, viewed in the broadest sense as educational experiences that occur in both formal and informal settings. It includes a critical examination of the substance (subject matter, courses, programs of study) , purposes, and practices used for bringing about learning in educational settings. Three areas of interest, or clusters, reflect overlapping and intersecting areas of strength in the whole CSTD Program: Critical Studies in Curriculum and Pedagogy, Learning, Schools, and Innovations, Teaching and Teacher Education
