Course Overview

Program FeaturesThe Johns Hopkins Carey Business School part-time Flexible MBA program is developing a new generation of business leaders willing to tackle society's most vexing problems. As a student, you'll have the opportunity to focus on key domains: enterprise risk management, health care management, financial businesses, and real estate and infrastructure. The Flexible MBA at Johns Hopkins University offers busy students the flexibility its name suggests. Designed to fit into the often-varied schedules of working professionals, the Flexible MBA can be completed in several ways. Students select a preferred mode of completion (in person, online, or hybrid) upon enrollment into the program. On Site: In-person courses are offered in 8-week terms throughout the academic year at Carey's Baltimore and Washington, D. C. locations. Classes are typically held in the evenings, Monday-Thursday, from 6 to 9 p. m. , as well as occasional Saturday morning classes from 8: 30 - 11: 30 a. m. Each course meets once per week. Online: Courses are offered in 8-week terms and are available for students in the Financial Businesses, Health Care Management, and Leading Organizations concentrations. Courses feature mostly asynchronous learning activities with a few recommended or required synchronous (real-time) learning activities. Students in the online programs have access to an array of university resources, including library services, academic advising, student services, and information technology services. Online sections of Business Communication, Leadership in Organizations, and Negotiation also require the attendance of an in-person residency at the Baltimore campus in order to complete each 8-week course. During each residency, students will engage in course instruction, participating in activities, and network with faculty, fellow students, alumni, and business leaders. Residencies for Business Communications and Leadership in Organizations are 3 days each. The Negotiation residency is 1. 5 days in length. Hybrid: Flexible MBA concentrations in Financial Businesses, Health Care Management, and Leading Organizations are offered both in-person and online. Students may elect to complete these concentrations by taking a mix of online and in-person courses, depending on their scheduling needs. Not all electives or concentration courses are available in the online format. All students will complete a total of 54 credits, with the freedom to take up to 6 years to finish your degree. The average time for completion is 2. 5 years, with students taking 2 courses per 8-week term.
