Course Overview
The dynamic changes and developments in business and society at large are forcing companies and other organizations to keep transforming and adjusting in what has become a permanent process of change. Managers need to recognize these needs for change and respond effectively to them with their teams by their side. In order to accomplish these essential changes, executives need meaningful competences in five distinct areas: Recognizing developments in the market; Developing organizations; Developing teams; Developing individuals; Shaping leadership mindsets and practices. The Master in Leadership and Change at Steinbeis University Berlin provides a practice-oriented course design to match these challenges: The students will develop their knowledge and abilities with a combination of scientific rigour and systematic commitment to practical relevance. The Project Competence Studies concept has long proven its effectiveness and is enriched further by the innovative methods used by the IEC. While pursuing their studies to develop the competences they need for their role in organizational transformation, the students continue to work on their corporate projects. These transfer projects link the contents of the course with the actual commercial interests and practical professional needs of the students. The projects are supervised by a certified project coach to ensure that all students have an opportunity to discuss their individual transfer and development needs not only in the course sessions, but also in between modules. The course also encourages the students to share their insights in class and via the powerful learning platform. The platform hosts shared work assignments as well as multimedia study materials, access to academic libraries, and abstracts for publications on the leadership and management topics covered in the course. The study philosophy of the IEC forms the foundations of the didactic architecture: We see ourselves as partners for your development ambitions and for the goals of the organizations hosting the study projects. We promise a fair and open climate that we consider an important prerequisite for competence and personality development.
