Course Overview

The main theme running through the economic policy courses is how to improve government and the conduct of public policy in the light of an understanding of the way the economy works.

Although some economics background is useful, courses are typically offered in non-technical economic ideas and analysis, business-government relations in the international economy, and applied policy areas such as trade, development, environment and the economic dimensions of social policy.

Upon successful completion, students will have the skills and knowledge to: Demonstrate deep knowledge and understanding of key debates and thinking in the field of public policy, in particular economic policy, in Australia and globally. Reflect critically on and engage in key theoretical debates in the field of economic policy. Engage influentially in debates and analysis of public policy issues and practical challenges across cultural, developmental and institutional contexts.
