Course Overview

The program provides comprehensive training in the process of community development, the principles of smart growth, liveable communities, new urbanism, quality development, sustainable construction, and other practices and trends that define the future of the residential construction industry. Students are exposed to the complexities and challenges associated with the field of residential construction and development, and are exposed to how development projects impact the social environment and quality of life of the community. This Residential Construction Develeopment program is offered by Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech). All segments of the housing industry are studied, including single family, multi-family, mixed-use, affordable, senior, and renovation. Students are provided with a comprehensive view of relevant public policy, development, design, and construction issues, and gain a realistic understanding of the current business environment and prospects for the future. The graduate track in Residential Construction Development is designed for professionals interested in developing their expertise in these areas and equipping themselves for senior-level positions. The Greater Atlanta Home Building Association (GAHBA) has been instrumental in developing the curriculum for this graduate program.
