Course Overview
Germany is worldwide the primary location in researching and developing new technologies in mechanical engineering industries and textile production. Germany is also one of the biggest producers of technical textiles. After successfully completing the Masters program in textile engineering at RWTH, graduates will work in the field of constructing textile machinery as well as developing processes and operations for the production of textiles of any kind. The Masters programme in textile engineering bears an international focus. This RWTH degree course enables graduates to work in diverse industries and fields of work worldwide, for example and among others in: aviation, automobile industry, filter technology and naturally directly in textile engineering and construction. With the Master of Science in Textile Engineering, students gain specialized knowledge in developing and constructing textile machinery, new operations and production processes, as well as manufacturing and processing natural and synthetic fabrics. They will also study the development and research of new fabrics, including the use of composite materials. Graduates will thus gain a specialized qualifications profile and a range of specialized expertise. They will acquire professional competencies in textile engineering and textile technology as well as cross-disciplinary social and personal skills through integrative and interdisciplinary learning and teaching methods. Through its internationality, its focus on interdisciplinarity and its training of highly-qualified young professionals, this graduate Masters degree course contributes to putting project and research results directly into practice. This will be effected by means of research- and practice-based master theses, which develop from laboratory work or direct involvement in research projects. The Master in Textile Engineering provides knowledge on the latest development in textile technology in a wide range of subjects covering high-performance fibers, 3D-textiles and new processes and machines to manufacture textile products. Successful participants receive a Master of Science degree (M.Sc.) awarded by the RWTH Aachen University. With this degree graduates become part of the German textile research community at one of the top universities for engineering in the world and can apply after the graduation directly for a leading position in the industry. In addition, students with outstanding academic performance shall be inspired to pursue an ongoing academic career at RWTH and its location in Aachen.
