Ethnic Studies

‘Ethnic Studies’ explores how difference and power is negotiated in society. A Master’s in ‘Ethnic Studies’ (MA) will enable graduate students to become well versed in topics such as sexuality, race, gender and class, as this interdisciplinary subject traverses across many academic fields, including anthropology, literature, gender studies, and political science. Students will enhance their critical thinking and analytical skills, as well as their research and theoretical faculties. ‘Ethnic Studies’ students will incorporate many topics, such as language, identity, social theory, to formulate new understandings of how individuals and society can tackle issues such as racism and sexism. Graduates of ‘Ethnic Studies’ Master’s go onto a range of career opportunities, such as academics, sociologists, counsellors, social workers, or politicians.
