Materials Science & Engineering

Materials science and engineering (MSE, or MatSci) combines engineering, physics and chemistry, and uses them to solve real-world problems in nanotechnology, biotechnology, information technology, energy, manufacturing, and other major engineering fields. An MSc in Materials Science and Engineering prepares students to solve problems in Materials Science and Engineering under the exacting conditions we encounter today. They learn how and why materials behave the way they do, and exploit this knowledge to develop new materials with amazing properties. Graduates from Master’s Degrees in Materials Science and Engineering usually specialize in a certain area, such as biotechnology and biomaterials, metals, semiconductors or nanotechnology. Common jobs include design engineer, materials engineer, metallurgist, process development scientist and technical sales engineer.
