Christianity, with 2.2 billion followers, has the largest amount of followers of any religious group on the planet. Christianity is a monotheistic religion founded on the supremacy and primacy of God. Christian studies explore the development of Christian thought; from the religion’s genesis over two thousand years ago up to its place in modern society today. Students will analyse the changes the religion underwent through the ages, including the various branches and philosophies, the altering social landscape, and the representation of Christianity in art and literature. Graduates of Christian Studies can go onto work as ministers, clergy members, chaplains, or counsellors. A postgraduate degree in Christian studies can also prepare you for professions such as historians, writers, activists, or academics.
